Nothing changes

Sometimes with the pace of business we don't take the time to review the thoughts and concepts of the great people of the past. When I read this book I was amazed at his level of thinking. We tend to believe that "our" generation is always coming up with the great thoughts and ideas. If this is your thinking you need to step back 100 years or so to the life and times of Henry Ford. All we are doing is reinventing what he did.

"A fascinating look at the works of an early industrialist"

It was amazing to read that many of the ideas and ideals around the turn of the twentieth century are still used today. Ford goes into great detail describing the origination of the Ford motor company, the labor force, the assembly line, and financial situations of the company. At a time when most of the male workers across the country were working for fifty cents a day, Ford incorporated a minimum wage of from three to five dollars a day. Henry Ford did a good job writing this book as well. There were several examples of sage advice include which are quoted by speakers and writers to this day. He was truly a visionary, business minded genius. The world was certainly improved by his presence. I'm looking forward to reading other of his works in the future.

The Mind of Ford

First I want to tell you what this book is not. It is not a biography. It really isn't a biography of the Ford motor company either. What it is is the mind of Ford on paper. Henry Ford was a pure genius! This book is about how Henry ran his company and about his thoughts and ideals on business. You will really get to know the man behind the company in this book. A few of the chapter titles are "What I Learned about Business", "The Secret of Manufacturing and Serving", "Wages", "Why Not Always have Good Business" and "Money - Master or Servant". This is one of the top business books ever written. I think it was written very well and it just grabs your attention from the begining. If you are looking for a great business book or just a great book about the real Henry Ford then you need not look any further. He certainly was one of the best business men to ever live.

Fantastic Book! One of my favorite woodworking books

I've had copies of this book for several years.

Mr. Vandal provides very clear and carefully prepared instructions for some exceptional reproductions. His pieces are probably the nicest of all the Queen Anne ones that you can find in books or in plans.

His ideas on finishes for the pieces is also first rate.

There is a very interesting and extremely well written history and background on Queen Anne furniture and the origins of the style at the beginning of the book.

Wonderful book and I absolutely love it! This is an easy Five Stars book and I highly recommend it.

My first copy of this book ended up getting lost. That book had literally flown around the world with me on a few occasions. The binding was still in excellent condition. I've replaced the book and still think it's the best book on making Queen Anne style furniture.

You can't beat the clear, concise instructions that Mr. Vandal wrote. While I haven't built every piece in the book, Vandal’s writing style is so clear that I would feel very comfortable attempting any of the furniture including the larger case pieces.

Pathology can be classified by a number of different systems of which the most common are process (e.g. inflammation, neoplasia, etc.) or site (e.g. cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, etc.). This textbook is interesting because the material contained within the book has been selected to relate to what is primarily an endoscopic appearance, namely polyps within the gastrointestinal tract. When I first picked up the book I thought that this theme was rather contrived, but on further reading I began to understand the reasoning behind it and came to realize that it was an excellent way of gathering together important information that is not always available in this format in more generic textbooks of gastrointestinal pathology. The textbook follows a logical sequence through the gastrointestinal tract from the oesophagus through to the anus. In each section all the pathologies which could cause a polypoid appearance are considered - from congenital malformations, through inflammatory and infective conditions, to benign and finally malignant tumours, The way that the material is presented gives a very clear idea of the differential diagnosis of a polyp at any particular site within the gastrointestinal tract. The book is copiously illustrated with colour illustrations which include many endoscopic images to provide correlation with the pathological findings. The quality of the colour illustrations is for the most part good but there is the recurring problem of shadowing toward the edges of low-power views of slides that plagues all such images. Gastrointestinal pathology makes up a large part of the general h I suspect that to the vast majority of gastrointestinal histopathologists, and probably to general histopathologists and endoscopists too, the idea of a book devoted solely to gastrointestinal polyps is appealing. After all. most endoscopists see such lesions every day and most pathologists will see at least one a week. Often a verdict of "hyperplastic" or "inflammatory" polyp is the best that can be offered but this diagnosis is not very satisfying for pathologist and clinician alike. Consequently, it was with eager anticipation and in the hope of transforming my approach to gastrointestinal polyps that I started to read this book. As luck would have it, the slides for the EQA in gastrointestinal pathology had landed on my desk the previous day. They included at least two dificult polypoid lesions for which a diagnosis was currently eluding me. I thought that this book would be an ideal reference and turned to it for help. I was pleasantly surprised when the answer to my conundrum was available within minutes. A little while later I was approached by one of my SHOs with a question on the genetics of juvenile polyposis. After a short consultation of the book, I was able to give the answer confidently : no need for Internet searches this time. This book is the first to my knowledge that deals solely with gastrointestinal polyps. It covers all regions of the gastrointestinal tract and is abundantly illustrated with endoscopic photographs and colour photomicrographs. For each type of polyp, descriptions of prevalence, endoscopic appearances and pathological features are given, followed by discussion of biological behaviour and associated conditions. For some types of polyp, details of management strategies are also provided. All the authors are well known gastrointestinal pathologists with a wealth of experience in this field, so it is not surprising that they have managed to put together such a comprehensive text.
