Very basic / sparse information

This book tries too hard to cover too many topics and ends up providing relatively basic information on a wide variety of things, without being able to go deep in any. It is targeted towards a networking novice, so introduces some very basic concepts. While there is some focus on Cisco products, most of the information is outdated and too high level to be meaningful (you can get more current / detailed information on the Internet). It would have been more useful to stick to a few core subjects around routing/switching, and explore more in-depth what specific Cisco products can do, and how to use them effectively.
